Phosphor Powder Rare Earth Recovery
Phosphor powder recovered from lighting bulbs and tubes is a luminescent material that is primarily composed of roughly 20% to 30% of the powders. rare earth elements (such as yttrium, europium, lanthanum, cerium, and terbium) bound to a host matrix like phosphate or aluminate, along with trace amounts of mercury trapped during operation. The phosphor powder captures a portion of the vaporized elemental mercury (typically 3 to 5 milligrams per bulb) used to create the UV light inside the lamp.
